Teaching Assistant

Location: Havering

Payscale: £94-104 per day

Hours: 8:30-4:00

Contract: Long term to Permanent | September Start

LTF Recruitment are seeking a passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting students with autism in their educational journey, working alongside our experienced educators to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with autism in both classroom and specialized settings.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to create a personalized and inclusive learning environment.
  • Foster a safe, supportive, and structured classroom atmosphere that promotes students’ social and emotional development.
  • Utilize effective communication strategies to facilitate student engagement and understanding.
  • Monitor and record student progress and behavior, providing feedback to the teaching team and parents/guardians as needed.
  • Assist with classroom preparations, materials, and resources for lessons and activities.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework or a degree in education or a related field is preferred.
  • Prior experience working with individuals with autism spectrum disorders is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with students with special needs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic classroom setting.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based strategies and interventions for individuals with autism is a plus.
