Student Support Mentor

Location: Long Eaton (NG10) Derbyshire

Pay: £95 – £105 per day

Role Type: Maternity Cover, Long Term – Permanent, Full Time: 8:30am – 3:30pm

Start Date: January 2025

End Date: July 2025, with the potential to continue after this

LTF Recruitment are currently working in collaboration with a mainstream secondary setting to appoint a Student Support Mentor. The job holder will work within the pastoral team to provide support for young people who are presenting challenging behaviour or who are finding it difficult to access mainstream lessons.

This position is maternity cover, with the potential to continue in the setting after this.

Responsible to: Lead Student Support Mentor

  • Maintain accurate attendance records and address absences promptly.
  • Plan engaging sessions to re-engage disengaged students.
  • Prepare and develop resources for coaching and learning support.
  • Actively contribute to the department’s success.
  • Keep detailed records to support student progress.
  • Guide assigned students through structured activities and tutorials.
  • Track student progress using behaviour data (e.g., G4S reports) and implement interventions.
  • Collaborate with pastoral teams to maintain communication with families
  • Create and implement personalised student action plans.
  • Use diverse strategies to boost academic growth, confidence, and self-esteem.
  • Enforce child protection, health and safety, confidentiality, and data protection policies.
  • Tackle unexpected challenges efficiently, seeking help when needed.
  • Set clear behaviour management expectations from the outset.
  • Accept feedback constructively and share strategies with colleagues.
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, and families.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience of working with young people
  • Ability to work with students with additional support needs
  • The ability to collaborate within a team to work towards positive student outcomes
