LTF Recruitment are searching for a graduate looking to build a career as a speech and language Teaching Assistant. As a Speech and Language TA you will develop the communication skills of pupils in a mainstream primary school in Haringey. This would require 1-1 support and small group interventions targeting children who need additional support with speech and language, working alongside a young boy in the school’s year 5 class with communication difficulties. The role is a fantastic opportunity for graduates or experienced TAs looking to gain further experience working with speech and communication difficulties, or those looking to take on teacher training in future. This full time for the remainder of the academic year and for the right candidate will go on to become a permanent position.
Main Duties include:
- Working 1:1, and in small groups, providing speech support
- Deliver interventions to children who have speech and language difficulties
- Liaising with the class teacher and school SENCO regarding pupil’s progress
- Providing phonics support to children below age expected levels
- Supporting the class teacher with the delivery of lessons.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience with speech and communication is desirable
- A relevant degree or equivalent qualification
- A flexible attitude and be able to adapt approach to meet learner’s needs
- Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- A good understanding of special educational needs
