Software Development Tutor – Haringey, London

In this role, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging lessons in software development to learners aged 14-16, providing them with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in the tech industry. You will also guide students through hands-on projects, ensuring they gain real-world experience with coding, software design, and development tools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver exciting and interactive lessons in software development
  • Teach key programming languages, including Python, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and database management (SQL)
  • Provide support and guidance to students on individual projects, ensuring they meet deadlines and learning outcomes
  • Use assessment methods to track student progress and provide constructive feedback
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment for all students
  • Collaborate with staff on cross-departmental projects to enrich the learning experience
  • Ensure high levels of student engagement, retention, and success

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Strong understanding of software development, including Python, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and SQL
  • Familiarity with GitHub and version control practices
  • Experience working in an educational or mentoring role is desirable
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts in a clear and engaging manner
  • A passion for technology and a desire to share that passion with students
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage your own workload effectively
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience in hardware and software integration, networking, or computer engineering
  • Visual scripting/programming skills
  • Knowledge of CPOMS or other safeguarding software
