Campus Safety Liaison Officer & Intervention Support Lead
Location: Birmingham (3 x sites – B4, B44, B74)
Salary: £20,000 – £23,000
Hours of Work: 5 days, Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm
Holiday: 30 days a year
Start Date: September 2024 or ASAP

LTF Recruitment are looking to appoint a dedicated Campus Safety Liaison Officer & Intervention Support Lead to work in a large and successful Birmingham college, based across 3 sites (B4, B44, B74). You will be required to travel and work across all 3 sites (you will not be required to travel between sites day to day).
Role Description: To deliver a first-class Security and wellbeing service to all staff, students and visitors, monitoring all areas of the college and intervening with challenging behaviours where needed.
This is a varied role, and the successful candidate will place a heavy focus on leading on the development and operation of intervention strategies to manage and improve student behaviour.
Individuals with prior experience as a: police officer, probation worker, youth worker or community worker are encouraged to apply.
Role Responsibilities:
- Enhance day-to-day public relations by providing information and assistance to students, staff and the public
- To lead on the development and operation of the student intervention process; liaising with curriculum, student experience and enrichment teams to ensure appropriate outcomes
- To patrol the College building(s) at agreed times and monitor the recreational areas of the College
- Assist the Campus Safety Team in immediately responding to any emergency situations
- Record all incidents daily through appropriate College systems
- Handle challenging situations in a professional and calm manner
- Assist certificated employees with preventive discipline by explaining College rule, risks and unacceptable behaviour to students and parents or guardians
- To assist the Campus Safety Supervisor with designing a system of work that provides proactive action for students and to intervene with student behaviours
- To assist the Campus Safety Team in immediately responding to any emergency situations (fire evacuation, terrorist threat, violent action etc) to provide necessary assistance to staff, students, and visitors
- To identify trends in student behaviours and implement agreed activities and processes to reduce student disciplinaries
- To monitor and report on levels of student disciplinaries
Role Requirements:
- SIA Badge (Security Industry Association) is desirable but not essential
- Previous experience of working with young people is highly desirable eg. police officer, probation work, youth work, community work etc
- Access to transport to attend the colleges 3 sites (B4, B44 & B74)
- Encourage the college ethos of ‘ready, respectful & safe’ throughout the college
- An interest in improving student outcomes and behaviours
